What $185 an hour includes

  • The truck.
  • A crew of two or three movers.
  • Furniture wrapping and padding.
  • Taking beds and tables apart and putting them back together.
  • The drive between your addresses.
  • No added charge for stairs, traffic or tolls.

How the clock works

  • It starts when the crew knocks and you let them in.
  • It runs through loading, the drive, unloading and reassembly.
  • The drive to your first stop is free.
  • After the minimum, time is billed in half-hour steps, and a partial half hour is not charged.

What can change the price

Packing service and boxes are extra. Bring your own boxes and there is no box charge. A cancellation on the day of the move is charged $185. Anything else that could change the price comes up on the estimate call, before you book.

Hourly or flat?

Most apartment moves are billed by the hour. Single-family homes and long-distance moves usually get one flat price after a free estimate, in person or by video.

Deposits and payment

Local moves: no deposit. You pay when the job is done, by cash, any major card, PayPal, Venmo, Cash App, or online. We do not take checks.

Long-distance moves: half once the truck is loaded, half on delivery.

Pianos

We move upright pianos and baby grands, at a flat price quoted on the phone.

Moving coverage

If you want coverage beyond the basics, we point customers to Moving Insurance, LLC (973-453-4033), where you buy the coverage level you want directly.

Rates questions

Why a four-hour minimum?

It is close to what a real local move takes once you count loading, the drive, unloading and putting furniture back together. Most moves land near it or above it.

Do you charge for the drive?

The drive to your first stop is free. The drive between your two addresses is on the clock, because the crew and truck are working.

Is there a deposit?

Not on local moves. Long-distance moves are paid half at loading, half at delivery.

How do I get a price for my move?

Call 443-622-4869 with both addresses, the date, the floors at each end and your big pieces. Or send us the details. For a typical Maryland move, also see what a local move costs.
