Moving Company in Harford County, Maryland

We are based in Abingdon. Not a franchise with a call centre in another state, and not a broker who takes your deposit and hands the job to whoever answers the phone. Mosby Movers is a Harford County moving company run by Harford County people, and most days our trucks never leave the county.

That matters more than it sounds. When your move is twenty minutes from our yard, we are not billing you for two hours of travel before anybody picks up a box. It means we can hold a Tuesday morning slot open and actually keep it. And it means if something needs sorting out afterwards, you are talking to the owner, not a ticket number.

What a move actually costs

$185 an hour, four-hour minimum. That is a truck and a two-man crew, and the hourly rate includes the things other companies bill separately: fuel, blankets, shrink wrap, dollies, straps, disassembly and reassembly of your furniture. There is no travel fee, no equipment fee, no fuel surcharge, and no weekend premium.

Four hours at $185 is $740, and that is the floor on a truck job — a small one-bedroom typically lands right around it.

If you do not need a truck — you have the U-Haul already, or you just need muscle to load a container or shift furniture for new flooring — labour-only is $165 an hour with a three-hour minimum.

We publish these numbers because almost nobody else in this market will. If you have called around Harford County already, you have probably noticed how hard it is to get a straight answer on price before someone comes to your house. That is a sales tactic. We would rather you know what it costs and decide.

Towns we cover in Harford County

Every one of these has its own page with local detail:

Abingdon · Aberdeen · Bel Air · Bel Air North · Bel Air South · Belcamp · Edgewood · Fallston · Forest Hill · Havre de Grace · Jarrettsville · Joppatowne · Perryman · Pleasant Hills · Riverside

If your town is not on that list and you are in Harford County, call us anyway — the list is our page count, not our service area.

What we move

Homes and apartments. Studios through to five-bedroom houses. Stairs, no lift, tight turns on the landing — that is a normal Tuesday.

Offices and commercial. Weekday and after-hours so your business does not lose a day. We have done a lot of work at Aberdeen Proving Ground, so if you are moving on or off post, we already know the access rules.

Seniors and downsizing. Patient crews, and we work with estate attorneys, senior communities and families clearing a parent’s house. This is the work we are proudest of and it is not a job to rush.

Single items. A piano, a gun safe, a treadmill, a slate pool table. Sometimes the whole job is one heavy awkward thing and one flight of stairs.

Labour only. Load or unload your truck or container. Move everything to the middle of the room for carpet or paint.

Packing. All of it, some of it, or just the kitchen and the artwork — the two rooms people most regret packing themselves.

The certificate of insurance question

If you are moving into an apartment building or a managed community, the office will almost certainly ask your mover for a certificate of insurance naming the property as additional insured — and they will often refuse to let the truck onto the loading dock without it. It catches people out on move-in day constantly.

We carry general liability and we will send that certificate to your building’s management before the day, at no charge. Ask us when you book and it is handled.

Weekdays are wide open

Almost everyone wants to move on a Saturday, which means Saturdays book out and weekdays sit empty. If your schedule has any flexibility at all, ask about Monday through Thursday — the crews are the same, the rate is the same, and you will get your pick of the start time.
